Some displays are devoted to the pioneering rock and roll artists of the Fifties, the soul artists of the Sixties, the political protests against rock and roll and interplay between fashion and rock.

The programs include a variety of educational and cultural events, including a series of year-round concerts. The Hall of Fame series features evenings with Rock Hall Inductees. There are educational programs for everyone from toddlers to students, to teachers and adults in general.

The building was designed by the internationally renowned architect I.M. Pei. A striking state-of-the-art facility that rises above the shores of Lake Erie, its composition features bold geometric forms and dynamic cantilevered spaces that are anchored by a 162-foot tower. The tower supports a dual-triangular-shaped glass "tent" that extends (at its base) onto a 65,000 square-foot plaza, providing a dramatic main entry facade.

I.M. Pei, one of the world's most famous architects, also designed the National Gallery of Art's East Building in Washington, DC, the John F. Kennedy Library
in Boston, the Museum of Modern Art in Athens, and the expansion of the Louvre in Paris, among many other buildings around the world.

The Hall of Fame's visiting hours are: 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily (open until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays). It is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Museum is also open until 9 p.m. on Saturdays.

The definition of true rock and roll cant really be discribed because it is an ever changing art form. But if i had to define it to someone i would say one thing... go to a rock consert. Who... well i guess that depends on who you like and if they are considered rock and roll. In the case of best bands... well if you havnt heard tool yet some consider them the best band. But then again some consider papa roach the best rock band. Personaly i would have to say fame wise... metallica. Although i dont listen to them much they have definantly acheved one of the highest possible places in rock and roll history considering they havent died yet. I liked that you mentioned pearl jam, they really do rock... prooly one of my more favoret bands. If your looking for a the best guitar i cant say what that is cause ive not yet tryed them all but i can tell you that the eppy les paul is one hell of a machine. Boonen Banned From Tour De France

Belgium’s former world cycling champion, Tom Boonen, has been forced out of this year’s Tour de France.

The rider was barred after it was revealed that he had tested positive for cocaine use outside of competition in May.

So drugs are yet again making the headlines of cycling’s annual “jewel in the crown” and it has not even started. It does not get underway until July 5.

There again drugs and cycling seem to be two words that are almost synonymous in a sport that is riddled with doping scandals.

The winners of the last two Tours, Spain’s Alberto Contador in 2008 and US rider Floyd Landis in 2007 – have both been at the centre of doping allegations.

Indeed last year’s event overall degenerated into what was termed a “Tour de Frauds” with several top riders forced to drop out during the race after failing controls.

Organisers of the Tour seem to make an annual effort to clean up what is considered by many to be the sport’s showpiece but clearly face an uphill battle.

Reacting quickly to the news of Boonen’s positive test for cocaine, the Tour’s general race director Christian Prudhomme said the actions of the rider had brought disgrace upon cycling and the Tour itself.

And he is not kidding. Boonen is yet another high profile rider to make the headlines for the wrong reasons. He was world champion in 2005, took last year’s green jersey as the best sprinter on the Tour and just last April won the prestigious Paris-Roubaix race when he beat Switzerland’s Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland in a sprint finish.

While Boonen might be out of this year’s race his team, Quickstep, will still take part.

It is perhaps it’s a little hard to believe that Proudhomme actually thought and apparently still thinks the sport’s image hadn’t been tarnished almost beyond repair.

News of yet another drugs scandal, albeit outside of competition and therefore under the circumstances not considered performance enhancing, will hardly rock the nation or the sport.

Officially even though cocaine is classed as a stimulant, it is only considered a prohibited substance by the World Anti-Doping Agency if taken during competition.

The Tour’s organisers and the sport’s governing body, ICU, defend themselves, claiming the very tests they carry out prove how much more of an effort they are making to rid the sport of its shame.

This year’s 21-stage Tour de France will get rolling on July 5 from Brest in western France. Unusually there will be no prologue, but in keeping with tradition the race will wind its way around the country before ending up in the nation's Capital, Paris, on July 27. There it'll be a race to the end passing the Eiffel Tower before a last sprint up the world famous Champs Elysees to cross the finish line.

Of course whether it will be free from further unwelcome revelations is a matter of conjecture, but it is a fair bet that drugs will in some way be making the headlines yet again before, during and probably after the event.

The last ever photo taken of Elvis Presley was when he was in his open casket coffin. One of his cousins was paid a remarkable sum to take a photo of the legend in his coffin. Some may say that this was disrespectful, but once it appeared in the paper, it sold millions of copies.

The death of Elvis Presley is still big news today due to the fact that no one is really sure what he died of. By the time of his death, Elvis had ballooned and looked like a bloated and expanded version of his younger slim and sexy self.

Lindy Hop evolved from the Charleston, Jazz Dance, Tap and Breakaway betweeen 1920 and 1930. It was named after Charles Lindbergh's 1927 Atlantic crossing, and was a member of the Swing dance family, as was the Jitterbug. Americans brought these dance forms to Europe around 1940. In the U.K., variations in style led to Boogie Woogie and Boogie Swing, with Jive eventually emerging as the generic term.
As for the music, there are arguments for many different artists being the 'originators' of Rock 'n' Roll. Perhaps Big Joe Turner could take some credit, as he wrote "Shake Rattle and Roll", which was Bill Haley's first million seller (Turner did alright with it as well!). The first rock 'n' roll record to chart was Haley's "Crazy Man Crazy" (1953).
Chuck Berry's "Maybellene" was an adaptation of Western Swing king Bob Wills' "Ida Red", a hit in 1938. Another Wills version of the song "Ida Red Likes the Boogie" was a big hit in 1950. "Ida Red" is a traditional song with recordings dating back to 1920s. Interesting that Bill Haley's musical roots were in Western Swing.
Hank Williams' "Rootie Tootie" and "Move It On Over" may have contributed.
Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, and Jerry Lee Lewis, all originally with Sam Phillips' Sun Records, definitely deserve credit.

AC/DC didn't make many people stop and ponder life's questions when they were rocking in their heyday. And you can probably assume that with their current tour they're sticking to their guns, playing a lot of the old stuff and running with the familiar themes. While you can point to a number of lyrical subjects in their songwriting, one that sticks out above the rest is rocking. Chasing women and getting inebriated are both very common themes, but based purely on the amount of songs with the word "rock" in the title ("There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'," "Rocker" "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Want to Rock and Roll)," "Rock n' Roll Singer," "Let There Be Rock," "Rock n' Roll Damnation," "'Rock n' Roll Aint No Noise Pollution," "For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)," etc.), you can imagine these guys were very serious about being rockers, rocking and basic rock n' roll things.

Therefore, it's not uncommon that the average AC/DC tickets buyer will try to ponder the question: What AC/DC song rocks the hardest? That kind of study would take a whole novel. For the purpose of narrowing down some of the parameters of the debate, we'll focus on two classic songs about rocking from AC/DC's Dity Deeds Done Dirt Cheap album, "There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'" and "Rocker." Let's take a look at the lyrics.

The similarities between these song lyrics are too numerous to name, but when you see them side by side you can notice some subtle differences in rock philosophy. "There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'" describes an even that will, if AC/DC can help it, rock in the foreseeable future, whereas "Rocker" describes a person ("I" not "We") who has already achieved the status of "rocker" (as well as "roller"). First person narration is the most obvious difference, but also the least meaningful.

If we're here to discover what rocking is, then we need to look at the rock each song seeks to relate to the audience. That said, the major difference seems to be a matter of superficiality. "There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'" is a vastly superior AC/DC rock song because the rocker it describes is a doer. He's going to have some fun, include others, share it round, quiver, quake, put on a show. He gets after it and makes rock happen. In contrast, "Rocker" seems to portray a man who rocks simply because of his many possessions- a fast car, tattoos, women, tight jeans, lorex sox (what are those anyways?).

So you have to ask yourself, are you a rocker because you have the gear, or are you a rocker 'cause you take the wheel and steer? Do you necessarily rock because of the things you own, or because of the lifestyle you lead? Actions rock much louder than possessions.

Led Zeppelin is the #1 Rock and Roll Band of All Time

I've been in rock and roll all my life and I'm well aware that The Rolling Stones have been called the best rock and roll band. Don't get me wrong because I love Mick and the Stones, and the Beatles were my major musical influence, but here's why I think that Led Zeppelin is the best rock and roll band of all time:

1. BEST PLAYERS

First of all, John Bonham was the best rock and roll drummer ever to walk the face of this planet, and that's an informed opinion coming from a former professional drummer. John played drums unlike anyone else ever did, still does, or ever will, and that fact is continually demonstrated in the astounding breadth and depth of his recorded work. He had complete independence in all four limbs, he slammed his drums harder than anyone else, and he did it with speed and total precision, never once dropping the beat. His beats were innovative and creative, and John was never stuck in simple grooves. His fills were innovative, creative, complex, and technically brilliant, he knew when to keep it relatively simple (i.e. Kashmir), but he was always in the stratosphere of drumming. And to top that all off, John created a giant drum sound which is unique. It inspired a host of imitators who were able to imitate the sound of his snare drum, but only with a simple backbeat. At the time that Led Zep was formed, Jimmy Page could have gotten any drummer in the world to play with him, and he chose John. There's not one single drummer alive or dead who can begin to touch John's power, creativity, speed, precision, and technical brilliance. I've heard that Jimmy still feels the same way about John as I do.

Secondly, Jimmy Page has always been one of the best rock guitarists ever, right from his earliest days as a session player and the beginning of his real public stardom in the Yardbirds. I suspect that Jimmy would agree with me that Jimi Hendrix was the one true genius of guitar because he came from another galaxy in terms of his sound and his use of feedback. But unfortunately, Jimi died and we will never know how much further he would have progressed. When I listen to Jimmy's solos using the violin bow, I get the urge to put him on the same pedestal as Hendrix and wonder which galaxy they both came from. As a songwriter, Jimmy used his superior ability to play lead guitar to create actual song structure. Led Zep's songs use not one or two of Jimmy's incredibly powerful, complicated and unbelievably SEXY riffs in each song, but there are four, five or more riffs in some songs. Jimmy's riffs differ from each other within each song, and also from song to song. His lead guitar playing can be HARD and sexy, he can be sensitive and beautiful, and he can be technically brilliant, all in the very same song.

Thirdly, John Paul Jones is a bass player who attained a level of brilliance comparable to Paul McCartney. Just like McCartney, John could play beautiful "melodic" bass (i.e. "Ramble On"), he could play as fast as it gets, but he also knew when to keep it simple and just hold down the bottom although I think he was incapable of doing that without utter sophistication. No one at all can touch those two on bass, and John also played consistently brilliant keyboards - piano, organ and synthesizer. The intricate way in which he wove his bass guitar playing into, through, and underneath Jimmy's guitar playing is nothing short of perfection itself.

And last but not at all least, Robert Plant had an incredibly high vocal range, emotionally as well as in terms of octaves. Just like Dylan was for his own music, Robert's voice was perfect for Led Zep's music and there's no other singer who could possibly have fit in. As a professional singer, I'm knocked out by Robert's vocals on both a technical and an emotional level. Robert understood the concept of using his voice like a musical instrument, creating fascinating sounds without using lyrics. And Robert co-wrote with Jimmy too. A lot of the time you can't understand his lyrics and I've heard that was Robert's intent because just like Mick Jagger, all he cared about at that time was that you connect with the emotion and the energy in the totality of the music. But when you can get the lyrics (like in Stairway to Heaven, their tribute to Janis Joplin), you find a great piece of poetry. And on top of all that, Robert had the best "oooh yeahs" in the business!

2.CREATIVE SONGWRITING

Hardly anybody has ever covered Led Zep songs for very good reasons. Their song structure is based on their vastly superior playing abilities and there's no one who can actually play what they played. I'm talking about songs that are not based on simple chords like all other rock and roll is. Jimmy and Robert based their songs on Jimmy's riffs and on his chordal tonalities that to this day stand alone as being unique. I'm also talking about length of songs that maintain a constant and intense high, up to 11 minutes in length without resorting to an overly repetitive chorus. I know from Robert's solo work after Led Zep that he also uses unusual tonalities in his writing, but even without actually knowing this I would have to assume that due to Jimmy Page being an erupting fountain of brilliant guitar work, the majority of the non-vocal music creation came from Jimmy. The Beatles certainly deserve abject worship for John and Paul's creative songwriting ability, no question about that. Certainly Mick and Keith wrote a slew of classic, historic and truly memorable rock songs, but the very nature of their comparatively simple rock and roll structure and basic similarity to each other in terms of using major and minor chord progressions, simple and basic rock and roll rhythms, and verse/chorus/bridge approach defines them as being less innovative when compared to Robert and Jimmy.

3.SUM TOTAL OF BRILLIANT WORK

Here they outdistance The Stones because most of the Stones' albums have "fillers", which are songs that do not hit the same intense high that got slammed in all their best ones. However, I'd like to say that I don't think either Mick or Robert is capable of recording anything short of a brilliant vocal. The Beatles actually exceed Led Zep in terms of numbers of great albums that constitute a greater body of brilliant and uniquely innovative work that literally broke new musical ground with every single song they recorded. The Beatles were simply The Beatles, and they were the most creative rock and roll band ever, from being the best singers and songwriters ever right down to their individual charm and charisma. But without denigrating their gorgeous, sensitive and original style of playing, what they recorded is not the heavy type of rock and roll that either the Stones or Led Zep played. George, Paul and John were all brilliant and creative guitarists, but because they did not improvise on stage, they were not really master guitarists. I love and respect Ringo as both a person and as a very creative drummer who mastered the art of drum sounds. He has his own unmistakable Ringo style for both, but he's not really a master drummer in the sense of being able to play with great speed and dexterity. I'm talking about 9 Led Zep albums chock full of brilliant and intensely high songs - I don't know how many hours of great rock and roll listening that is. There's not a single weak track among all that work, and there's simply no question that they consistently broke new ground musically. Their debut album is still the best one of all time (including Cream's), and Coda, their "swan song" is equally perfect.

4.STAGE PRESENCE

Led Zep was there when the concept of rock and roll star" was still evolving. I will grant that the Stones at least deserve honorable mention as the best rock and roll band but it's mostly because of their impressive touring record and Mick's superstar stage presence with his ability to put on a great show every single time he appears. And he's still doing it at age 60 for goodness sake! My point isn't that Led Zep necessarily had the best stage presence, just that they did have a true rock star sexual aura.

I could go on about Jimmy Page's abilities as a producer, and there are other aspects to their greatness like the length of time they were together without a change of band members. And the life they actually led as archtypical wild rock and roll bad boys equals the life led by the Rolling Stones in intensity, if not length. Both bands are perfect examples on an artistic level of what I call FORM = CONTENT, which in this case means that these two rock and roll bands personified the rock and roll life.

In conclusion, the above four categories do enough to fully qualify Led Zeppelin for my not-so-humble award. There will never be another rock and roll band to approach the stratospheric musical heights that Led Zep reached. The Recording Industry Association of America, who has the correct statistics, lists Led Zeppelin as the third best selling musical act/artist in history. The Beatles are first, with 166.5 million albums sold in the USA alone, Elvis is second with 117.5 million, and Led Zep is third with 106 million. I think it's very significant that those statistics are becoming geometrically times greater than the number of albums that they sold during their performance lifetimes. What has happened and is happening is that the young people of today are discovering them in droves because they are coming of age sexually and they recognize and connect with the most powerful musical example of that sexual power. They are buying their CD's, shirts, posters and other memorabilia. And frankly, I'm thrilled.

Mine would be to get on an old seventies style chopper and hit the road with nothing but a bed roll.I would make my way from the Gulf of Mexico to Seattle Washington via every back road in between, take time to look at the real America. I mean really see America you know like when you are on the interstate and you wander where an interesting looking road might take you. well, the beatles didn't exactly arive in america until 1964, but in the world the beatles were different mainly because they used harmony a lot more than any other band at the time. and people were very surprised that they didn't even hear their accent while they sang. they just started out with #1 hits and ended with #1 hits. they were all guys and girls loved them. They portray them as gentlemen even though in real life they couldn't come anywhere close at the time. haha. there was a week where 5 of their songs filled the top 5 songs. in 1964 they came to america and went into shea stadium and it was the first time a rock group had preformed in there and there were over 50,000 people in the stadium to see them. they were very much british, and people were just surprised and they grew like wildfire all over the world in such little time. they used harmony to their advantages haha, they were all just 4 talented men who got together and formed an even more talented group.

Like with the slow drum beats and kind of lazy saxophone. I'm into lots of music, rock, metal and blues, so songs that are somewhere in between would be good to. I like the saxophone solo bits in Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seger as well, maybe something like that.

Check out Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue." It's the ultimate album for that kind of slow, smoky playing. Also maybe John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme."

Los Lobos is not a band from the era. They did a cover version of "Come On Let's Go " and other Ritchie Valens songs for the 1987 movie "La Bamba".

"Sleep Walk" was not a Ritchie Valens song. It was an instrumental hit by Santo & Johnny.

Bobby Darin did not sing "Little Bitty Pretty One", I believe that was Thurston Harris.

The Beatles may have recorded "Hippy Hippy Shake", but it wasn't one of their hits. The Swinging Blue Jeans released the version most people recognize from the radio.

I would continue looking for more mistakes on your list, but I have this sudden urge to go find a mirror and count my gray hairs and wrinkles instead.

Rock Band on the Wii - Finally!!!

So Rock Band has finally been released for the great Nintendo Wii. But with the Wii lacking the graphical ability of the PS3 and Xbox360 is the game going to be able to compete?

In my opinion, the PS2 and Wii versions are more comparable than to try and compare the Nintendo Wii with a PS3 or Xbox360.

Graphics:

Obviously, the Wii isn't known for it's amazing Graphics, it is al about the fun-ness and playability. The graphics are OK on this particular release though as it is not a graphic-intensive release. However, the one video of the band in the background gets tiresome, and the fun of being able to see your own amusing personalised characters was great fun on 360 and PS3 however this feature is not included.

Online:

This is the major downside to the Wii's release of Rock Band, there is no Online play at all. Which sucks.

Features:

It does ave many features in common with the releases on the other platforms however it lacks most of the customization options which made the 360 and PS3 releases fun. However, it still let's you and 3 friends create a band and rock-out,which is the whole point in this game, right?

Game Components:

The box includes: A microphone, Guitar, and Drum Kit. (A second Guitar is available for Bass Riff's etc. at an extra cost). These are all connected through a USB hub which is included that plugs into the Wii's USB slot. The Drum set is now White on the Wii release and the "skins" feel bouncier and more responsive. All the Hardware feel great and is very similar to the other releases of the game's hardware.

Music and Soundtrack:

Rock Band's tracklist features a great mix of songs that includes classic rock, punk, '80s rock, alternative, and modern rock. Extra tracks are not available for download like on the Xbox and PS3 releases. However, you can purchase a CD that has 20 bonus tracks on that were available for download on the other platforms. Most of the songs are performed by the original artists, though there are a few covers. There's music from the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, KISS, Bon Jovi, R.E.M., The Who, Weezer, Stone Temple Pilots, Radiohead, Beastie Boys, Soundgarden, and many more. There are a total of 63 songs, 5 more than in previous releases. The five new songs are:
The Police - Roxanne
The B-52's - Roam
All-American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret
Oasis' - Don't Look Back in Anger (One of my personal favorites!)
The Ramones - Rockaway Beach

Summary:

Thanks to do stripped down feature lists, and the lack of online gaming. (Not to mention the 7 month delay behind the Xbox and PS3) The Nintendo Wii release of Rock Band is not the best on the market. However, this doesn't mean it isn't a great, fun, playable game, because it really is. Whether there is just you or half of your town round, you can have great fun rocking-out to a really good music list.

Tim Young, Bringing New York Rock'n'roll Back to Its Roots

Rocker Tim Young is a veteran to the New York music scene. Influenced over the years by artists of all styles from Marvin Gaye to Jefferson Airplane to Elvis Presley, Young has been writing music for nearly two decades now. He started releasing albums in 2002 with No Stranger, a collection of nine original instrumentals that were self-produced and recorded at his home studio. His 2005 album, Red, was his debut as a singer/songwriter, and now in 2008 he has released his newest album, The Cost, that is a straight up rock 'n roll record. MusicDish had the chance to speak with Tim in this exclusive interview about his new album, his influences, his future and other related topics.

[MusicDish] When did you begin creating music, and when did you begin to seriously pursue a music career?

[Tim Young] I was a junior at Mansfield State University in Mansfield, PA. Actually, I had accordion lessons when I was a kid from eleven years to fifteen. But at Mansfield I began to write my own songs. Then I was nineteen. Peter, Paul and Mary were the easy ones to pick up then and everybody loved them.

Once I put my first band together, which was the early 80's, I became serious about my music. My first band, just for the record, was named Signals. Unfortunately there are no recordings of this music. Or maybe that's a good thing. I did always think I've got a bunch of hits in me.

[MusicDish] What were your earliest musical influences?

[Tim Young] Probably Elvis and Elvis clones like Fabian and Bobby Rydell. There was also this guy Buddy Knox who had this record, 'Party Doll', which I loved. The Beatles hit when I was fourteen and that was the heyday of great AM radio which was always on the instant I stepped foot into the family car. After I earned my driver's license and could drive on my own, I would drive as fast as the music would take me and turn it way up. I remember Tommy James's 'Hanky Panky' and Arthur Connolly's 'Sweet Soul Music' being particularly great to drive fast to.

[MusicDish] Do you find that songwriting or lyric writing comes most naturally to you?

[Tim Young] I think they both come naturally to me but both are difficult to get right. I began writing some poetry in high school but I didn't play guitar then. However, I was encouraged by a few fellow students to go on with my writing. I guess melodies did come kind of easy for me once I had mastered a few chords. It was and still is so fascinating to see and hear the words take on a new life in the context of the music. Plus I had memorized every lyric and melody nuance to every Beatles song that was released. I poured that stuff into my head. I know that helped me in many ways.

The late 60's and early 70's brought the counterculture to a head. I mean there was a lot in the air then that one could take to support the habit of writing music and putting words to it. It seemed there was always something that needed to be said. And for me the longer I kept writing the better I became.

[MusicDish] What music do you currently listen to?

[Tim Young] Mostly my own stuff. When I've completed a new project I get so much satisfaction in hearing it. It's like food. I need it to sustain myself. I also listen to artists I find on MySpace and other places I stumble onto on the web. I should probably branch out more with my listening but mostly I'm just disappointed. However, right now I am also pretty hot on Patti Smith after just seeing the brand new doc on her life, which was an excellent film.

[MusicDish] As I listen to 'The Cost,' I am clearly reminded of the twangy blues of Elvis, combined with the overwhelming vibe of heartbreak, mastered by Johnny Cash. Would you consider your music to be modeled after them?

[Tim Young] Not consciously. But Johnny Cash is someone I look up to because he was more of a writer than Elvis, and in the past few years before his death, Cash was really reborn again. It's no secret. Just listen to those last few albums. Stellar performances, in my opinion. And even though he did cover a lot of songs, if you didn't know you would probably think that Johnny wrote them. That's the kind of artist I can aspire to. It seems to me that his music was not a part of his life but was his life and in that respect I guess you could say I have modeled myself after Johnny Cash. I also dig the wearing of the black.

[MusicDish] What do you feel is the overall message of your album? Do the themes of pain and loss correspond with personal experiences, and do you feel that the album can serve as therapy for those who also experience similar situations?

[Tim Young] I don't know if there is a message, but it seems to me as the good stuff and bad stuff comes along it's better to deal with it somehow rather than sweeping it under the rug. If you lose someone dear to you then howl about it. When things get ugly, move away from them. The individual is responsible for him(her)self. It's too easy to blame somebody else. When things are great, celebrate. It's so much more wise, I think, to roll with the punches. Have fun. Not having fun? Get drunk.

I'd have to say that almost all my songs are pretty personal. They all trigger a personal response in me that no one else would know about. I think that happens to everyone - an individual response that lives in the mind. On the other hand, there can be a more shared response between people and that's what makes a song resonate and become popular. The sharing of the emotions the music allows to come through. There is real power in those kinds of emotional reactions.

I'm certainly no therapist, but I know from experience that the right song at the right moment is capable of lifting spirits and/or putting you in a mood that may somehow alleviate or bring into focus whatever situation one might be going through. I can say without any hesitation or trepidation that this record, 'The Cost', makes me feel great, and a big part of that reason is I think it touches on a lot of shared inner emotions.

[MusicDish] Which track is the most meaningful to you? And which do you think will be your biggest hit?

[Tim Young] I go back and forth on this but today I'd have to say the title track, 'The Cost', is the most meaningful. I could not have written this song without the amazing relationship I share with my girlfriend. 'The Cost' is the worst case scenario. What if things all fell apart? Disaster. I would never want to face that, but what if? Nobody knows.

If 'The Cost' was to be the biggest hit... Wow. I could see that. (I think the sleeper hit could be 'Wishing.')

[MusicDish] On 'Drifting Cowboy,' can you offer some insight as to whether the cowboy is a fictional character, or if he is autobiographical at all?

[Tim Young] I suppose a combination. That word 'cowboy' pops up in my songs sometimes. I dig that word because it represents freedom to me. Someone with no ties; whose only possessions are a horse and whatever is in the saddle bags - the ability to just split without notice. Maybe because I'm a city dweller part of me yearns for the openness of what the West used to be - what it meant to head West.

I took the title from the name of Hank Williams' band, The Drifting Cowboys. By the way, the details listed in the song are facts about Hank: born in Alabama, quit school in Montgomery, played in bars and on the radio, made it big in Nashville.

[MusicDish] How do you feel about the current state of the music industry? Do today's artists compare with the legends of the past, like Elvis or Johnny? Do you have hope for the future generations of American music?

[Tim Young] I think generally the industry is healthy because there are more artists than ever working and creating new music. I believe the consensus is that the internet has leveled the playing field some. The major labels no longer have the stranglehold on the business they used to.

I still think it's very difficult to have people pay attention to new artists and part of this is because there are more artists than ever and it's very difficult to get through most of the muck to find something of value. This has probably always been true, but with the internet it has become so much more obvious.

Great artists are rare. I know there are some out there but I don't want to be told who they are. Supposedly greatness rises to the surface and if that's true then I'll see them when they appear. Today it's too much of what I call the 'toothpaste effect': one brand today, a different brand tomorrow. The music doesn't stick; it just washes down the drain. Spit out.

Hope doesn't cost a dime.

[MusicDish] What is the next step in your music career going to be? What can fans expect?

[Tim Young] More music! I've never done any kind of major touring and I would like to do that. I want to put out one album a year. Right now I'm in the middle of writing songs for the next record. I want 'The Cost' to make a difference in my career so that I can accomplish some of these goals more easily.

My fans can always expect the kind of emotional no holds barred shows that I always deliver, and new songs and ideas are always a part of that. Performing is a high priority.

[MusicDish] Can you speak a bit about your current performance schedule? Where can fans see you live?

[Tim Young] This is an area I need to improve. I don't have a satisfactory performance line up. Right now I have a solo gig at the Vintage Bar, which is located on the corner of 51st Street and 9th Avenue. I perform there once a month, in about the middle of the month. The dates always change but I always post them on my site and on MySpace. Vintage is a great intimate setting and I love playing there.

My band, which is a duo, with Sand Edwards on drums, is on the lookout for gigs. I wear a lot of hats running this project and sometimes the booking agent hat has a tendency to fall off, but like all the others I pick it right up again.

Full Singing Success Program - Is it Necessary to Get Better as a Singer?

The full Singing Success program consists of a DVD, CDs and a workbook. It is a comprehensive program if you want to learn singing from home. I discuss some main aspects of the program.

Brett Manning's program is similar to the speech level singing technique that many famous singers have used to get a lot better. His program teaches you singing techniques to get a wider vocal range with less effort by properly utilizing your body for maximum range. It's a very comfortable way to learn to sing.

Some people would argue you can't sing rock or other loud music using this technique, but he intends to prove that assumption wrong in his lessons with some of his famous students.

When asking about the full Singing Success program, people compare it to some of Manning's individual products geared towards vocal workouts, vibrato and other specific components of singing.

This complete version does touch upon his other individual products highlights and incorporated them into the large version. It's an overall good program for beginners or more experienced singers.

Usually when you see testimonials by people who bought the product, you are a little skeptical, but I paid attention to some of the singing celebrity testimonials from Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, and others because I don't think they get paid by Brett Manning's company.

That's one of the reasons the entire learn to sing program is respected amongst the other at home learn singing programs. He has some star power backing up his system's credentials.

The DVD shows an interview with Brett while he discusses some of the typical mistakes singers make and how to overcome them with specific singing techniques. The CDs are guided lessons he does with some of his students and they are ones you can follow along with.

Overall, it's a quality program and that's why it's a little more expensive than some of its competitors. If you're looking for something comprehensive, you could get the full Singing Success program.

rock was a natural "branching out"of the more uniform sounds of the blues and the delta blues and to a lesser extent jazz so i feel that rock is nothing more that the "bad boy"of music.

it was also less constraining and more free to roam and it shows in the early forms of rock which include buddy holly,elvis,chuck berry.where as classicial,jazz i feel have to follow a set of guide lines from the likes of Beethoven,mozart,list.

Elvis recorded a little ahead of him, so I guess he would still be considered the father, but Buddy Holly's DIY everyman approach to Rock N' Roll lead to artists like Elvis Costello, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Kinks, and most importantly the Beatles. His death also had a profound influence on music, because it was like a hard sobering to the punch drunk excitement of music in that era.

The blues is the father of every form of American music in the last 100 years. It is the father of rock, jazz, bluegrass, and country. Jazz is a bit more of a brother to rock than a parent, as rock music is usually about tight songwriting and jazz is mainly about improvisation.

If you want to hear some the earliest and best recordings of delta blues, I suggest you listen to Robert Johnson: The Complete Recordings. So talented a music was he, that Eric Clapton admits to having trouble playing his songs.

You have to make a shelter and then find food or make a fire. You could use the metal in the rocks to make sparks to set a handful of your hair on fire and then put it in some sticks to make a fire. That is if you can cut your hair with something. Maybe a sharp rock would work for this. Also you need to boil ocean water and use the salt left over from the water. If you have nothing to do this with you might be able to use a hollowed out rock, not sure about that.

Finding the Perfect Rocking Chair

Choosing a Rocking Chair – It goes without saying that anything you buy you want it to last. Hand crafted rockers are known not only for their decorative function but also the longevity. They are made from the finest pieces of wood that are joined together using mortise and tenon joints. This creates a strong joint that can withstand the rigors of constant rocking motions. Recent news out Brisbane is that the bassist from the rock group Good Charlotte was taken to the hospital on November third, after falling off of the stage only minutes after the show started. Apparently the rock musician seriously wounded his ankle after jumping around onstage, which could have led to a misstep that provoked the fall. Paul Thomas, however, was apparently not deterred and continued to play throughout the duration of the concert by sitting in a chair with a large ice-pack strapped to the effected ankle. There were reportedly no broken bones, which hopefully means a quick heal for the performer who is still scheduled to continue touring with Good Charlotte. Good Charlotte is a well-known American pop-punk band that hails from Waldorf, Maryland. They first formed in 1996 and have been playing to sold out crowds since then. The band took their name from a children's book called Good Charlotte: The Girls of Good Day Orphanage, and they have thus far released four albums in total. Their most memorable record was 2002's multi-platinum seller The Young and the Hopeless, which spawned the singles "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous," "The Anthem" and "Girls and Boys." Their breakthrough single titled "Lifestyles of the Rick and Famous" topped both pop and rock charts around the globe. Several other singles from that record include: "The Anthem," "Girls and Boys," "The Young and the Hopeless" and "Hold On."

Good Charlotte is not just any other punk band to emerge on the music scene. They are talented and determined to make their mark on the punk rock scene and are admired by many other bands in the same genre. Fans hope that Paul Thomas will recover quickly and be able to continue on this exciting tour without any further mishaps.
